ApcoBuild Tileman   +   ApcoBuild Hydrotite IWC   +   ApcoBuild Hydrocrete
Surface Preparation
  • Surface should be sound and mechanically cleaned to remove all loosely adhering particles, oil, grease, laitance etc.
  • Pre-wetting of surface is essential with maximum water to a saturated condition but surface should be free of excess water.
  • In case of plaster being not sound, in newly prepared cement sand mortar use of ApcoBuild Hydrotite IWC @ 200 ml per 50 Kg bag of cement is recommended.
  • As an added precaution for tiling on wet areas, a primer coat of ApcoBuild Hydrocrete mixed with cement in 1:1 ratio is recommended to prevent moisture ingress.
  • Mix 1 Kg ApcoBuild Tileman per 50 Kg bag of cement with the help of trowel (karni) in dry mix of cement : sand. To avoid the wastage of the mixed quantity part mixing can be done as and when required as the mixing proportion mentioned earlier.
  • At site addition of water shall be adjusted to attain desired consistency considering the atmospheric conditions and site requirements.
  • Spread above prepared tile fixing mortar on to the plastered substrate to a thickness of approximately 4-6-mm as per the requirement and comb with a notched trowel
  • In case of undulations in substrate and if required, then put some above prepared tile fixing mortar uniformly on the back side of the tile leaving no voids and must be trowelled out.
  • Press and slide the tile with a slight twisting action on to the tile fixing mortar.
  • Ensure that tile is placed on to the applied tile fixing mortar with in 10 to 15 mins.
  • Keep joints between two tiles with help of “spacers” that will help to accommodate the movements.
  • Allow tiling to set for 24 hours & start filling joints next day with “tile grout”.
  • Clean the tiles after complete installation using Suitable cleansing agent with the help of dampened sponge over a desired tile area and brush it properly. Clean the tile substrate with water to get clean & shiny surface.
  • Intermittently touch the tile adhesive mortar on substrate by finger prior to fixing of tiles. If the adhesive sticks to fingers then continue tiling and if not scrape off all and apply new paste.
  • The thickness of the tile adhesive mortar should not be increased more than 10 mm in any case. In such situations the undulations must be leveled with the help of cement sand mortar with specified mixing proportions.
  • Do not wet the tile before fixing.
